Stockpiles

You use the Stockpiles tab to define resources and assign them to your stockpiles. The Stockpiles tab for an Underground scenario is the same as the Mining tab of a Surface, or Surface and Underground, scenario.

The Stockpiles tab contains the Resources pane, the 2D Canvas, the Production rates data grid, the Resource capacities data grid, and the Location constraints data grid.

The Resources pane lists the resources that are defined. The 2D Canvas displays the locations for the scenario.

The data grids are located in the pane on the right of the tab. You switch between the grids using the Production rates, Resource capacities, and Location constraints tabs at the bottom of the pane. When you select a location in the 2D Canvas the rows in the grids that relate to the location are highlighted.

It is not always possible to assign a resource to a stockpile. A resource can be assigned to a stockpile if a movement is defined from the stockpile to another stockpile, or to a fill location. If you define a movement from a stockpile to another stockpile, or to a fill location, but do not assign a resource to the stockpile, the material is not moved. A resource cannot be assigned to a stockpile if a movement is defined from the stockpile to a process. The movement of material from any location to a process is defined by the rate specified for the process.

It is not mandatory to assign resources to stockpiles. If stockpiles are feeding a plant, material is moved from the stockpiles at the rate and ratio defined at the process. If material from your stockpiles is being moved to destination that is not a process (for example, to a fill location) you must define a resource for the movement or the material is not moved in the schedule.
